Kladschrift
Hi,
http://kladschrift.wordpress.com/ is a blog run by a mate of me. It's in Dutch (sorry English speaking people) but recently he put some interviews on his blog. Three of them are in English and one is in Dutch. But everything he writes is in Dutch. But it's damn fine blog.
So I would say check it out!

Autumn finally set in this month. The days are getting shorter and there’s more blackness. Work creeps up too. Lots of things to do, lots of papers to fill in, lots of tasks, lots of deadlines, lots of everything but free time... This month I felt particularly stressed out at times. The way I cope with stress mostly is by playing guitar. It unwinds me. Not composing nor playing old songs nor anything I need my brains for, none of that. Nah. I’m just caressing strings. Often I’m just laying on the sofa, my beat up spanish or electric on top of me, randomly feeling and stroking the guitar strings. You know how many musicians give their guitar a girl name... well, it’s like that. This month, I recorded some of these random playings. Sometimes they sound like melodies about to happen, but it’s just free floating nothing. I did multi-track everything though. Another thing I can enjoy in its particular own way: simple household chores. I don’t like ‘em.. but if it’s just me, warmth inside, cold rain outside, and silence – they can do their share of unwinding me. I recorded some of those too and used those sounds of home to wrap around the floating compositions. More than any other release I’ve made this past year, this music is more a part of who I am, rather than a record I want people to enjoy. There’s no thought, no goal, no emotion and no expression, it is just me unwinding. It’s like playing tennis or watching a movie.

Review : City Seventeen - EP1

Rhys from Iff Transponder Recordings asked me weeks ago to do some reviews for his label. Well since i'm still lazy when it comes to reviews he's still waiting. Probably i'm scared to fail or something like that when I need to a review.
But enough bullshit. Time to do the review!
City Seventeen is a three piece hailing from Cambridge, UK. They play Post-Rock music. I know when you say Post-Rock most people think of Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, Caspian and other bands. But this is a little bit different. But let me explain.
The EP entitled EP1 starts with the song Deliverance & Departures a really nice piano based Post-Rock track. So not a quiet-loud-quiet Post-Rock song like most of those bands do. Yeah I know some bands don't do that.
The second track on the EP Analysis is more guitar based but once again it's a nice and chill track only gets a little bit harder at the end of the track (the last minute)
Track three The Elephant In The Room really could be a Air track (you know that French duo). Why would I say something like that you think. Well because Air-esque pulsating sound you hear in the background.
The last track on the EP called Soft Geometry isn't a soft track after all it's to be honest the hardest track on the EP. They probably wanted to make a joke. And yeah this a typical Post-Rock song. Starts really nice and then after 2:30 it's burst out and really hard. Just think of a Explosions In The Sky song.
Overall this is a nice EP if you want something else instead of that Quiet-Loud-Quiet post-rock. Too bad it's only a 4 track EP. But I think that's the reason why it's an EP.
Oh yeah before I forget you can buy the album here. Do it an support this nice band!

RibsOut is One Year Old!
Yes you read that good. Today is my blog his birthday. Only thing I could say is that time flies very fast. Never thought it would reach his first birthday because a lot of blogs get closed by blogspot itself.
Maybe my luck is that I don't post those big selling money loving bands and that I post those not so well known bands. The reason for this? I just want to give these bands a platform. I post these bands because people will recognize them after hearing them. It's like helping those bands a little bit to get more visitors to their concerts so people can buy some merchandise from that band.
That's also a reason that I always put a buy link under the other link. I thought a buy link would be good idea for this blog. I wish more blogs would do the same like me. To be honzest I really don't know if this helps but I only can hope this.
One year ago my blog started with circa 100/200 visitors a day now one year later I got 800/900 visitors a day. Sometimes I have a 1000+ visitors a day. I think that's not bad for a blog that posts sometimes weird music. I just post what I like. If people don't like well too bad for those people. If people like well good for them.
So I wanna thank all the visitors on my blog. Without you my blog wouldn't be alive anymore. And a big big big thanks to all the bands/persons who mailed me and asked me to post their album on my blog. I know I ain't one the fastest posters if people ask me to post their stuff on my blog. So I wanna apologize if it takes a week before I post it.
Best Regards,

P.S. Watch out for a big post later this day/tomorrow
